Human Resource Management Certification Challenges

It is desired that candidates that want to get their human resource management certification have an extensive experience in HRM practice, but there is no reason for anyone whose job has less than 51% HRM responsibilities to apply for this certification.  A candidate who completes the class will be a driving force in their organization.  They will be motivators, change agents, strategists and consultants on every personnel management decision that the organization would have.

For a candidate to have their human resource management certification, they need to know how to deal with different situations that their organization would have to face.  As HR practitioners, they need to know the organization’s values and culture to make recommendations and decisions based on those concepts.  They should be able to influence and motivate employees to achieve the company goals within their set mission objectives.

One constant issue that HR practitioners need to face is change.  Due to different factors surrounding them, like economic pressure, policy issues, and different messages coming from different levels of management, they need to adapt to different kinds of situations.  One of the most common issues that HR practitioners face is that management has the perception that HR is interfering with management decisions, leading managers to make decisions regarding personnel without discussing it with HR.  HR Managers should adopt the image of a team player rather that of an adversary.  They should create specific guidelines and make sure that everyone understands them – employees who do not understand a certain policy change or a strict guideline are more likely to protest against it.  The HR practitioner should discuss every change thoroughly with every department level so that everyone is clear about each policy.

It is very hard to get everyone’s buy-in on policies.  HR should strive to make employees feel that they are valued and protected by the company.  It is HR’s duty to maintain a culture of performance.  It is also the HR practioner’s responsibility to support front-line management and administrators in implementing different HR strategies.  Human resource management certification would certainly help candidates achieve this goal.
